The Buy Side’s Views on Derivatives Clearing

The prevalence of macro and geopolitical disruptions—changing interest rates, armed conflicts and potential recessions—continues to drive volatility, the need to hedge, and opportunities to generate alpha.

Between November and December 2023, Coalition Greenwich conducted interviews with 210 derivatives professionals globally, including 50 end users, to ascertain their views about key issues in the market, including the role of clearing. Questions explored incentives and disincentives to clearing, operational challenges, and attributes of clearing brokers that end users most value.
