CRISIL Ltd has named Andre Cronje, London-based senior banker, as President and Head of International Business.

Over the past few years, CRISIL has significantly expanded its international footprint, which now spans the US, Europe, China, Hong Kong, Singapore, Australia and Japan, even as it consolidated market leadership in India.

CRISIL’s international business has been built over the past two decades by consistently delivering value to clients through strong IP, analytics and domain-led solutions, and customer-centricity of its two business verticals — CRISIL Global Research and Risk Solutions (GR&RS) and Global Benchmarking Analytics (GBA).

Andre will report to the MD & CEO of CRISIL Ltd.

Says Amish Mehta, MD and CEO, CRISIL Ltd, “We are embarking on the next phase of our strategic journey, which will see us accelerate growth in international geographies given the many opportunities we have identified. Our ambition remains to deepen our partnership with clients, and to continue developing differentiated offerings. We aim to establish a leadership position in our chosen markets and client segments. Andre will lead the GR&RS and GBA businesses towards our goal of sustainable growth.”

Andre commenced his career in 1995 in M&A and strategy. He has held a number of senior executive positions in banking, including as the COO of both, UBS Investment Bank and HSBC Global Banking and Markets, over 25 years. Prior to joining CRISIL, he was senior advisor at Boston Consulting Group.

Says Andre, “I am extremely excited to be a part of the next phase of CRISIL's journey. CRISIL’s unique capabilities, attractive market positioning, and being a part of the fast-growing S&P Global Group augur well for its continued growth.”
In 2016, Andre joined HSBC as the Group General Manager and COO of the Global Banking and Markets division, where he steered operating model changes and mitigation of non-financial risk, set up a Conduct and Controls Office, aligned technology and businesses, and improved data utilisation.

Born in South Africa, Andre has been living in the UK since 2001. He is a Chartered Accountant and has majored in Law, Economics and Accountancy at the University of Johannesburg.
