A new study from Greenwich Associates highlights the growing adoption of exchange-traded funds (ETFs) among institutional investors. 

Electronic trading works well for equities, but for complex products like swaps, voice is still the preferred method according to Kevin McPartland, head of research for market structure at Greenwich Associates.

The buyside likes exchange traded funds despite last August’s ETF market meltdown. Greenwich Associates says there are five drivers behind traders’ affinity for the instruments.
